Labor Law Compliance Poster Notice – This is a Solicitation

If you are a business owner in the State of Texas who has recently formed a limited liability company, corporation, limited partnership, or another entity, you may have subsequently received a letter containing a “Labor Law Compliance Poster Notice” or something similar. The good news is, the letter is likely a solicitation and not official correspondence.

We have been notified recently that these letters, while looking official, request the payment of a fee of around $108.00 by a certain due date to have a labor law poster for your business sent to you. It is likely you do not need a labor law poster for your business entity unless you have employees. If you ever do need a labor law poster, you can buy an all-in-one labor poster online for $30.00.

Federal law and Texas state law require businesses that have at least one (1) employee to display certain labor law posters in the workplace. Generally, every Texas employer must display a poster that contains information on the following five (5) topics: (1) the Fair Labor Standards Act, (2) the Occupational Safety and Health Act, (3) the Workers' Compensation Program, (4) the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and (5) the Employee Polygraph Protection Act. Additional poster requirements may apply to you based on your employment practices, number of employees, or type of business.
